#253: Possibilities

Here’s a huge basket of possibility:

Neckties. I have hundreds of them.
Aren’t they gorgeous?
And if these don’t inspire me there’s always:
Hmmm. Weave a seat?
Or a chair back?
Or sew up some headbands, or flower pins from the tips,
or iPhone cases from the fat ends.
So many possibilities, so little time.
Winters on-island can be long and grey,
perfect for projects…

#198: Nantucket Looms: Upcycled stool

Because I upcycle furniture on an island, sourcing can be a problem.
I get what I can at yard sales and the Madaket Mall
but my secret seatless stool source is my sister in Georgia.
She found this little beauty for me:
It was made by a lady’s grandfather.
Don’t you just love the bark left on?
My son is thinking of making me some of these this winter,
we certainly have a lot of dead pine trees…
This is what it looks like now:
The Looms took it to sell for me. Yay!
The beauty of upcycling is taking things which were headed to the dump (some, um, already there)
and making them into something of beauty and value.
Jesus does that for folk all the time.

#132: I sold a chair!

Woo-hoo!
So, I went in to Nantucket Looms to “visit” my rocking chair and two stools:
And the rocking chair and darker stool were sold. I was so excited,
I gave the saleslady a hug.
My weird hobby has now become an actual business.
I am so thankful to every one of you for your encouragement.
And to Louise and so many others for keeping me supplied with neckties.
And to God for being a Creator and making us like Him.

Daffodils anticipate the official Weekend…

It’s not quite Daffodil Weekend but they’re blooming:

Beneath the bike shed…
at the end of the driveway…
under the Story Seat I took a picture of in Toby’s little garden.
Do you like the cement squirrel? A Tioli’s find!
The grey lady brightens.
