The harbor belongs to the scallopers in winter:
No yachts here
Just a lone scalloper heading out
Look how neatly those dredges are stacked!
Of course the boat is the Gaffer,
named after Sam Gamgee’s dad?
It’s a good thing there were only easily-pulled-out scallop boats.
The three day storm was hard on the wharves,
already damaged by two previous storms.
Astack of not-whale-oil barrels.
Trash barrels, if you must know.
Looking toward summer.
We’ll do our best to have it all repaired for
the summer folk.
