#387: Kwanzan Cherry Tree

There’s a reason Nantucket is called the grey lady.
It’s the fog, yes, but also these rainy grey days.
We’ve gone as long as 3 weeks without sun in the spring.
So we plant Kwanzan cherries.
They don’t fruit, but boy! do they flower:
I took these pictures lying on my back
 under our tree
before it started raining two days ago
My kids loved to be showered in petals:
one kid would climb the tree and shake petals down on the others.

Drowning in petals
softly pink, swirling slowly
driving out the grey
Thank you, Lord, for cherry blossoms.
