#340: Winter Fundraisers

Nantucket has some over-the-top fundraisers
for some truly worthy causes in the summer,
like the Boston Pops at Jetties Beach.
In the winter we’re a bit more, subtle.
Snowflakes instead of fireworks.
Paper plates and folding chairs.
Homemade lasagna, Caesar salad, garlic bread.
Desserts to rival those served at the Pops.
And the kids do a good part of the work.
This fundraiser was for the Youth Group to go on
a winter retreat to Camp Berea.
Cost breakdown:
$135 for the camp
$43 boat
$40 bus
$8 bowling
(an important life skill)
As you can see, Islanders pay extra just to get there.
Next up, the Raffle…

  1. meg….I know I am anxious for spring!!! Thoughts of the daffodils bring a smile to my face. I am envious that you live on Nantucket. My husband and I haven't been back since before our 13 yr old was born 😦 Time for a revisit.
