Going to America

Nantucket is really flat. Our highest point is just 109 feet. This makes us perfect for biking and running but not so much for appreciating the majesty of God. It says in the Bible, “since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities–his eternal power and divine nature–have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made…Romans 1:20  The ocean gives a sense of His majesty when it’s stormy but I don’t have a good picture of that. So, we go to America. Big trees:

And big rocks:

Lead to big thoughts. Yosemite is just the place for it. Ansel Adams says:” Yosemite Valley to me, is always a sunrise, a glitter of green and golden wonder in a vast edifice of stone and space.”  Seeing all that bigness doesn’t make me feel small. Rather, it helps me see the greatness of God. It’s soul stretching.
